How to be a Good Samaritan
This weekend I have been doing my first aid at work update training. As ever always new snippets of information embed into ones brain. Hopefully I will manage to be useful if ever required. We were introduced to a really useful newish app for our smart phones and I thought I should let as many people as possible know about it.
The Good SAM alerter
This app will let you know where the nearest emergency responder (good samaritan) is available and allow you to contact them. It will also allow you to find all the nearest defibrillators.
Hopefully one will never need to use the app for either purpose but in our rural community and the scarcity of ambulances this seemed to me a brilliant addition to local services.
The other thing I learnt this time was how to use a defibrillator. Something which I had felt alarmed by trying. They are a fantastic thing and so cleverly designed. You open the box and it starts talking to you telling you exactly what to do. Amazing, idiot proof. Even I feel I would overcome my panic and give it a go.
